• Project Name: Knitting Genes through the medium of Tweets
• People Involved: Tree, Alan, Becky, Cheryl, and some back seat coders
• Project Description: The twitter knitter was first constructed for Dublin Mini Maker Faire 2013. It hung around Tog, gathering dust and tangles, so Tree and Alan decided to give it new lease of life knitting genes! A gene is tweeted (with the hash tag and organism), then it's fetched by some python and converted into an image. The image is then sent to an arduino that manages the pins. A pin up emulates a hole on a punchcard, and down emulates the paper. This way the pattern can be sent to the punchcard knitting machine without having to alter the hardware. Someone then has to stand there, moving the carriage back and forth and a gene comes out by magic!

• Project Description: Go or Baduk  or Wéiqí etc , is a turn based two person board game. The object is to strip the game back to it’s basics, to see what the proto-game might have looked like five thousand years ago, and to make it easier to learn. In essence : Each person places a stone on an empty position on the board. If this is beside one of the players existing stones then they now belong to the same group. If a stone or group of the other player is surrounded then it’s removed from the board. The player with the most stones on the board wins. There are other rules common to all board games. - it can’t go on forevers the game can end early by consent or by using rules to avoid having to fill in every stone you can’t have the same board position repeatedly Todo – need volunteers or victims to play. See how people learn the basics, Best way to see when stones are in a group, - do with electronics and blinking lights Later on life and death.

• Project Description: The aim of this project is to control a RC car using muscles. This requires extraction of EMG signals from the body (hand in our case). The hardware and software was completely built from scratch during the time at the event and we were successfully able to control the car using 2 channel EMG amplifiers.
